enjoyware — Ceramic dishes for the table
I like making enjoyware. The circular uniformity of food dishes provides a good canvas for painting spirals, and working in series allows for improvisation. Each series of enjoyware has the same palette of colors, symbols and design elements. The enjoyware project is dedicated to Oshun, Orisha (Goddess) of Rivers and sweet waters, and all enjoyments.

The dish forms (plates, cups, bowls) are manufactured from molds, and bisque-fired at the factory, really they are “blank canvases.” I create an original, unique painting on each dish with underglaze colors, and then apply an overall clear glaze and fire the work again. The finished work is oven and dishwasher safe.
